Harold Ray Markley, Sr.

Harold Ray Markley, Sr., age 84, of Oregon, OH, passed away peacefully Thursday, September 22, 2022 at Promedica Toledo Hospital with his daughter by his side. He was born in Webster Springs, WV on March 15, 1938 to Hurley Ray and Rose (Hall) Markley. Harold served in the US Army 11th Airborne Division as a Paratrooper. He married his wife, Sharon and together they raised their family. Harold worked for many years as an Ironworker and retired from Local 55. He was a hard-working and kind man who took great pride in his garden but most of all he loved his family above all else. He was a hero to his brother, sisters, nieces, nephews and grandchildren.

Harold is survived by his wife, Sharon Markley; his daughter Tina (Trevor) Walsh; his siblings, Ruth Tanner, Dorothy Groves, and William Markley; his grandchildren, Alyssa, Brittani, Harold Ray III (Trae), Leah, Mallory, Michelle, Missy, Mitchell Jr., Olivia, Taytum, Tiffany and Treven; his 15 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his sons, Harold R. Markley, Jr. and Mitchell L. Markley, Sr.

A private graveside service will be held in Webster Springs, WV. Memorial contributions in Harold’s name may be made to your local food bank or Mountaineer Food Bank, Gassaway, WV. Arrangements entrusted to Freck Funeral Chapel, Oregon, OH.
