Harold E. Bassler , 83, of Toledo, OH, passed away on Wednesday, July 9, 2014. He was born on November 20, 1930 in Bucyrus, OH to Harold M. and Udella (Goodwin) Bassler. Harold served our country in the U.S. Marine Corps., during the Korean War. He worked for E. W. Bliss as a Machine repairman then as a Toledo Policeman and retired out of General Motors as a foreman in 1987 after 18 years. Harold loved to travel and was a former Chaplin for the Lou Diamond Marine Detachment 272. He was the Associate Pastor of the Church of the Living Epistles.

Harold is survived by his loving wife, of 64 years, Irene Bassler; son, Jeff Bassler; daughter-in-law, Margaret Bassler; grandchildren, Nathan, Lenn (Sara) Jr. and Christina; great-grandchildren, Andrew, Jacob and Benjamin; sister, Evelyn (George) Cooper and brother, Ralph (Wanda) Bassler. He was preceded in death by his parents and son, Lenn Bassler Sr.

A memorial gathering will be held at the Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S. Wynn Rd in Oregon on Thursday, July 17, 2014 from 10-2 p.m. where a Marine Corp League service will be held at 12:30 p.m. with memorial services to follow at 1 p.m.   Inurnment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to the Church of Living Epistles.
