Gregory Raymond Palmer

September 24, 1958 — May 19, 2024

Gregory Raymond Palmer, age 65, of Oregon, Ohio passed away on Sunday, May 19, 2024 at Toledo Hospital with his family by his side.  He was born on September 24, 1958 in Oregon, Ohio to Raymond and Jo-Ann (Burnell) Palmer.  Greg attended Cardinal Stritch High School before starting his career with Libbey Glass, where he retired after over 35 years of dedicated service.

Greg was truly a one-of-a-kind character. From his satirical sense of humor, to his non-concern for others opinions of him, Greg always remained authentically himself. His infectious laugh and obnoxious jokes brought joy (and discomfort) to everyone who knew him.  Greg made a lifelong hobby out of heckling his two daughters, who were his pride and joy. This included but was not limited to, random late night phone calls, frequent pranks and made up stories, and leaving outlandish voicemails (that will be missed, cherished and shared for years to come)  Greg loved football and was an avid Cleveland Browns, and Detroit Lions fan (sounds unfortunate, right?). However, he redeemed himself with his great love for the Michigan Wolverines, the winningest team in college football history (GO BLUE).  Not only was he a huge sports fanatic, but he was also a great baseball player and coach to many. When he wasn’t playing or coaching baseball, you could catch him out on the lake casting a line. Greg’s vibrant personality and giant heart will be missed by all who love him.

Greg leaves behind his daughters, Chelsea (Mike) Palmer, and Carley (Chris) Mills; grandchildren, Miranda and Chase King; mother, Jo-Ann (Emmett) Palmer; his brothers, Michael (Sherri) Palmer, and Jay (Barb) Palmer; nieces and nephew, Michael Palmer, Brandy Palmer & Kelsie Palmer; canine companions, Sam and Apollo, and his collection of miscellaneous treasures and odd’s n ends.  He was preceded in death by his father, Raymond Palmer and his grandparents, Lilas and Milton Burnell.

A celebration of life for family and friends will be held at a later date.
