Gonzalo Herrera, 73, of Martin, Ohio passed away on Thursday, August 23, 2012 at his home. He was born on June 7, 1939 in Eden, Texas to Abel and Neives (Salinas) Herrera. Gonzalo was employed with General Motors Hydromatic for 40 years until his retirement. He was a family man and Church of God youth ministry member. He also was a member of the First Baptist Church of Oregon, and was the Song leader for other churches. As well as passing his faith on he had a passion for reading and directing plays. Gonzalo will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
He is survived by his loving wife, of 54 wonderful years, Lydia; children, Tony (Karen), David (Cindy), Elizabeth (Gary), Daniel, Corina and Adam; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and brother, Abel. He was preceded in death by his parents and 1 granddaughter.
Friends may visit Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S. Wynn Rd. in Oregon, on Monday, August 27, 2012 from 3 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the Chapel on Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow at Williston Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church of Oregon on Seaman Road.
