Gilbert Joseph “Gil” Chesson Sr., 88, of Millbury, Ohio passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 4, 2012 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on April 21, 1924 in Vinton, LA. to Samuel and Gladys Chesson. Gilbert married his wife Laura and together they raised their 4 children. He worked for Libbey Owens Ford for over 39 years, retiring in 1985. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, square dancing and finding treasures at auctions. Gilbert was a former member of Rossford Eagles for 30 years.
He is survived by his wife, Laura of 64 years; children: Gilbert Chesson Jr., April Chesson, Brenda Wilcox and Rex Chesson; 8 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren and 1 sister. Gilbert was preceded in death by his parents and 5 siblings.
Family and friends may visit the Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S. Wynn Rd., Oregon, Ohio on Saturday, July 7, 2012 from 10 to 12 noon, where services will be held at 12 noon. Burial will follow at Lake Twp. Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of N.W. Ohio.
