Geraldine (Gere) Ruth Orosz, 86, of Curtice, Ohio passed away at home on Monday, March 26, 2012 surrounded by her family. Gere was born in East Toledo, Ohio, on December 8, 1925 to Alfred and Caroline Ellerbush. After marriage to Julius Orosz, they lived in Point Place where she was active in her community, serving as a member of the Republican Club and the Point Place Garden Club, and as PTA President of Kleis School. Geraldine was a strong supporter of nature and wildlife conservation and worked with her family to create her own nature refuge, filled with trees and flowers, on the family homestead. Gere also created an oasis inside her home, decorating rooms, sewing clothes for the family, and knitting beautiful sweaters. She served as the driving force for her husband’s business, Art Staff, for 30 years. Devoted to her husband, no night was complete until their goodnight kiss.
Geraldine is survived by her husband, Julius; daughter, Susan (Eric) Orosz; granddaughter, Anna Bergman; nephews, Jim, Larry, Michael, Tim, Jamie, and Bob; nieces, Caroline and Cathy, and sister-in-law, Ann (Larry) Kuhn. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Robert and Alfred D. Ellerbush, and nephew, Don.
A memorial gathering will be held at the Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S. Wynn Rd in Oregon on Sunday, April 1, 2012, from 1-3 pm where a memorial service will be held at 3 pm. A potluck for friends and family will be held afterwards at the Orosz farm. Memorial contributions may be made to Heidelberg University, 310 E Market St, Tiffin, OH 44883-2462 to benefit the Biology and Environmental Science Dept.
