Gerald "Jerry" Walp

Gerald Charles Walp, age 77, of Walbridge, Ohio passed away on Monday, November 20, 2023 at home surrounded by family.  He was born on April 28, 1946 in Woodville, Ohio to Charles and Clara (Nowak) Walp.  Jerry graduated from Woodville High School in 1964 before entering the United States Army.  He married his wife, Barbara on April 26, 1968 and together they started their family.  Jerry worked for over 30 years at Chrysler Toledo Machining, retiring in 2000.  In his spare time, Jerry loved to travel and stop at casinos along the way.  He enjoyed playing slot machines wherever he found one.  He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

Gerald is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Barabara Walp; children, Kelly (Al) Smith, Kristie (Chuck) Herman, and Raymond (Jacquel) Klekamp; grandchildren, Johnathon (Kristina) Kline, Lauren (Travis) Gillin, Emilie Herman, Kyle (Sara) Klekamp, Kara Klekamp, and Joseph Klekamp; great-grandchildren, Ronan Beaman, Sebastian Kline, Benelli Gillin, Abram Klekamp, and Eden Klekamp.  He was preceded in death by his parents; and sisters, Betty Fox, Pearl Milton, Barbara Haar, and Sandra Johnston.

A memorial gathering will be held at the Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S. Wynn Rd in Oregon, OH on Thursday, November 30, 2023 from 10:00 -12:00 p.m. where a memorial service will follow at 12:00 p.m. Inurnment will follow at Lake Township Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Elara Caring Hospice.
