Gerald "Jerry" Thompson

Gerald Anthony Thompson, age 82, of Oregon, Ohio passed away on Monday, May 27, 2024 at Orchard Villa.  He was born on April 2, 1942 in Toledo, Ohio to Frank and Virginia (Ross) Thompson.  Jerry was a 1960 graduate of Central Catholic High School before serving in the U.S. Army National Guard, where he was a military police officer.  Jerry married his wife, Rita (Kokocinski) on October 23, 1965, she preceded him in death in 1991.  He worked as a painter for many years, retiring in 2022.  Jerry also owned and operated a Nautical Store in Oregon for a few years.  He married Miriam (Bousonville) Weirich on August 1, 1998.  In his spare time, he enjoyed woodworking in his barn, boating, painting, and mowing the lawn.  He also loved going to car shows and even started the car show at the Oregon Boomfest.  Jerry was a past member of Bay View Yacht Club.  He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Miriam Thompson; his children, Mickey (Natalie) Thompson, Gary (Dawn) Thompson, Tony (Jen) Thompson, Eddie (Allison) Thompson, and Cindy (Tom) Trendel; stepdaughters, Amy (Chris), and Angela (Keith); grandchildren, Gage, Danny, Alec, Madison, Austin, Owen, Chase, Evan, Spencer, and Quinn; step-grandchildren, Krystyn, Weston, Emily, Caitlyn, Ryder, and Christian; step great-grandchildren, Mason, Hayden, Carter, Myanna, Jason, Kaydence, Delaney, Kolby, and Dannica; and his brothers, Richard (Joyce) Thompson, and Michael Thompson.  He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, Rita Thompson; sisters, Beverly Smith, and Kathy Thompson and stepson, Mark Weirich.

A memorial gathering will be held at Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S. Wynn Rd in Oregon on Sunday, June 9, 2024 from 11:00-3:00 p.m. where a memorial service will follow at 3:00 p.m.  A fellowship reception will follow the memorial service.  Memorial contributions can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association-Northwest Ohio Chapter.
