GERALD R. “JERRY” MUMMERT, SR.
Jerry Mummert, Sr., 87, of Oregon, Ohio, passed away on Sunday, February 9, 2014 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born March 22, 1926 in Alliance, Ohio to Lloyd and Effie (Baughman) Mummert and worked for 37 years as an Industrial Engineer. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was a former member of First Church of the Nazarene in Burlington, NC and a new member of Hope Community Church in Oregon.
He is survived by his wife, Carlon; son, Jerry Mummert, Jr.; daughter, Linda Nieckarz Bair (Neal); children, Debra (Walter) Forbes, Robert (Renee) Ewing, Rick Ewing, Sue (Rick) Hymore and Ken (Shelly) Ewing; 17 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren and brother, Lloyd (Sylvia) Mummert. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Sterling and Clyde Mummert.
Family and friends may visit from 2-8 pm on Wednesday, February 12, 2014 in the Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S. Wynn Rd in Oregon where the funeral services will be held at 10 am on Thursday. Final resting place will be in Highland Memorial Park, Alliance, Ohio. Memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio or the Toledo Area Humane Society.
