Gerald “Jerry” Bick


Gerald Joseph Bick, 71, of Oregon, Ohio passed away on Friday, May 2, 2014 at the Ebeid Hospice Residence in Sylvania.  He was born on December 22, 1942 in Toledo, Ohio to Bernard and Jeanne Bick.  Jerry was a graduate of St. Francis de Sales High School and served in the U.S. Air force.  He worked for the Toledo Police Dept. and Columbia Gas Co. before starting his career as a railroad conductor.  He was employed by Penn-Conrail- C.S.X. railroads for 37 years, retiring in 2004.  In his spare time, he loved spending time with his family and was the official baby sitter of his grandchildren.  He enjoyed fishing for walleye on Lake Erie and was a member of the American Legion Post #334, the United Transportation Union and Beef Creek Marina.

He is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Ellin Bick, daughter, Kim (Bill) Kamelesky; grandchildren, Blake, Jonny and Kloee; step-grandchildren, Lauren and Will; sisters, Diane Bednarski, Becky (Bill) Henning and Barb (Marty) Fuller; brother and sister-in-law, Jim (Kris) Jeffery and many nieces, nephews and cousins.  Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; son, Jonathan, brothers, Tom, David and Kevin and brother-in-law, Bob.

Family and friends may visit at Hope Community Church, 5650 Starr Ave. Oregon on Monday, May 5, 2014 from 11- 1 p.m. where services will be held at 1 p.m.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Freck Funeral Chapel (419) 693-9304.  Memorial contributions may be made to Hope Community Church.
