George F. Pollauf, 87, of Oregon, Ohio passed away on Friday, April 24, 2015 at Orchard Villa.  He was born on February 25, 1928 in Toledo to John and Margaret Pollauf.  George began his career in the military where he enlisted in the Army Air Corp. serving for 26 years.  Twenty of those years were spent at the Toledo 180th A.N.G. where he retired from the Air Force with the rank, Master Sergeant.  George also worked for Jeep for 34 years in the Paint Dept.

He was a member of Christ Dunberger American Legion Post #537 and  St. Ignatius Catholic Church where he was involved with the Holy Name Society, St. Vincent DePaul Society and Past President of the credit union.  George served at mass as an adult server for many years.  He also volunteered at various places including St. Ignatius Church and Maumee Bay State Park where he maintained the boardwalk.  In his spare time, George loved to fly, read and to work on puzzles.

He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Edith Pollauf; children:  Debbie (Steve) Hulin, Greg (Janet) Pollauf Sr., George A. (Sandy) Pollauf, Linda (Chris) Billups and Sue (Tom) Lambrecht; grandchildren:  Steve (Shawna) and Abbey Hulin, Greg Jr. (Megan), Christopher and Jonathan Pollauf, Andrew and Michael Billups, Kelley and Emilie Pollauf, Chase and Nathan Lambrecht; great-grandchildren:  Dylanie and Braelynn Pollauf and Carter Hulin; brothers, William A. Pollauf and Edward Pollauf and sisters-in-law, Hazel Pollauf and Gerry LaCasse.  He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Fr. Robert Pollauf S.J., S.N.D. Mary Claver, Dorothy Ashburn, John Pollauf, Jim Pollauf and Margaret Weis.

Family and friends may visit the Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S. Wynn Rd in Oregon on Thursday, April 30, 2015 from 5-8 p.m. and Friday, May 1, 2015 from 2-8 p.m. where the rosary will be recited at 8 p.m.  Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday at St. Ignatius Catholic Church at 11 a.m. where family will greet friends after 10 a.m.  Burial will follow at St. Ignatius Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Ignatius Building Fund.
