Gary E. Rupert, age 77, of Curtice, Ohio passed away peacefully on Monday, February 15, 2016 at Genesis Health Care in Perrysburg. He was born on June 12, 1938 in Toledo, Ohio to Elmer and Beulah Rupert. Gary retired from GM Powertrain as a general supervisor of maintenance where he worked for 37 years. He was an excellent mechanic and woodworker. In his spare time, Gary enjoyed fishing, hunting and bird watching. He loved spending time with his family and was often found watching NASCAR and hockey. He will be dearly missed.
Gary is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Carol; son, Christopher A. Rupert; brother-in-law, Ronald (Terry) Klawonn; nephews, Aaron (Mindy) and Ryan Klawonn and his niece, Kelly Klawonn. He was preceded in death by his parents and half-brother, Richard Hier.
A memorial gathering will be held at Freck Funeral Chapel on Friday, February 19, 2016 from 1-3 p.m. where a memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. A private burial will take place at Allen Township Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. John Lutheran Church-Williston or the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.
