Gary Mickens, son of Arla and Mike Mickens, passed away peacefully at his Perrysburg home on December 25, 2013. He was surrounded by the ones he laughed with, lived for and loved, all “his girls” and canine sidekick, Jack. Gary was born May 13, 1954 in Toledo, Ohio. He graduated from Whitmer H. S. He worked as a painter and drywaller. His favorite hobby was to refinish old furniture and he loved to just be outdoors.
Gary is survived by his best friend, soul mate and wife, Heidi; his girls, of which were his pride and joy, Stephanie (James), Meghan (Danny), Brittney (Sam); stepdaughters, Katie (Heath), Anna; his grandchildren, Tyler, Maddison, Dean, Kennedi and Penelope; life-long partners in crime and cousins Bill and Dave Barto; siblings, Michael (Shirley), Darcy (Jeff) and brother-in-law, Jim. Gary was preceded in death by his parents and sister Deb.
There will be a celebration of Gary’s life at a later date. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make memorial contributions are asked to consider the family or Hospice of Northwest Ohio. The arrangements are being handled by Freck Funeral chapel.
