Gary John Locker, age 69, of Lake Township, Wood County, OH, died peacefully January 8, 2016 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio.  He was born in Toledo, OH the son of John and Meiriem, who preceded him in death.  Also preceded by many cherished friends and his dogs: Boots, Muffin, Licorice, Puffen and Wesley.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Barbara; daughter, Amy (Tim) Arthur and grandson, Samuel Arthur all of Rossford.  He is also survived by dear friends of 58 years, the Semark family of California.  Gary’s dog, Charlie, will forever miss Gary’s gentle strokes.

Gary was a graduate of the University of Toledo, before serving his country in the U.S. Navy, during the Vietnam War aboard the oiler “USS Nantahala:, out of Newport, RI.  He was formerly employed by “Lucas Metropolitan Housing Authority” as an architectural representative and by “Rossi and Associates” as an architectural draftsman.  During his long career, he drew dozens of home plans in the greater Toledo area and worked on drawings for his employers of schools, hospitals and other public buildings.

He was the founder and past president of “Greater Toledo Civil War Roundtable.”   Gary’s hobbies included working on information relating to Civil War history and visiting many sites.  Other hobbies were playing poker online, reading and enjoying dinners with family and friends.

Special gratitude to Dr. James Ewry, Interventional Radiology of Toledo Hospital and Hospice of Northwest Ohio for their care and kindness during his health struggles.  As per Gary’s wishes, no services will be held.  A memorial service will follow at a future date.
