Frederick Wohlers, 91, of Toledo passed away Tuesday, September 6, 2011 in the Lutheran Home at Toledo. He was born on May 18, 1920 in Hamburg, Germany to Wilhelm and Amanda Wohlers. They came to the U.S. in 1927, settling in Iowa & Minnesota area. Frederick was involved with the CCC-(Civilian Conservation Corps.) with his father and became a U.S. citizen in 1942. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII. Freddie worked for Surface Combustion for many years until his retirement. He enjoyed gardening and entertaining the neighbors with yodels and crowing in the morning.

Freddie is survived by his daughter, Lin (John) Whalen and the light of his life his granddaughter, Melissa Whalen and sister, Maxine (Don) Lillie. Frederick was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Loraine and sons, Gary and Terry and sister, Irma.

A private burial was held at Historic Woodlawn Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lutheran Home at Toledo.
