FRED S. SZOZDA
Fred Szozda, 40, of Toledo, passed away on Thursday, May 14, 2015 at Mercy-St. Vincent Medical Center. He was born January 14, 1975 in Toledo to Samuel and Sandra (Winckiewicz) Szozda. Fred was a 1993 graduate of Whitmer High School and from the University of Northwestern Ohio. For many years, he enjoyed working with the residents of the Epilepsy Foundation. Fred had an eclectic love of music, from heavy metal to Mozart. He was a guest DJ from 1996-2000 for the University of Toledo radio station, WXUT, where he hosted a guest spot, “House of Hate”. He excelled in bowling, scoring a perfect game in his competition. He will be remembered for his humor, imagination and generosity. His broad smile will be sorely missed. He put color into the lives of all he met.
Fred was preceded in death by his mother, Sandra and uncle, Clarence Szozda. He is survived by his father and stepmother, Samuel and Veronica Szozda; sister, Michele (Matt) Posten and stepbrothers, Ryan, Paul and Charles Scharfy along with many dear aunts, uncles, cousins and a multitude of friends.
Family and friends may visit the Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S. Wynn Rd in Oregon on Sunday, May 17, 2015 from 2-8 p.m. and after 2:00 p.m. on Monday with the Funeral Services to begin at 4:30 p.m. Burial will be private at Restlawn Memorial Park. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Diabetes Association, American Heart Association or a charity of the donor’s choice.
