Franklin P. Sprague, age 95, of Oregon, Ohio, passed away at his home on Thursday, March 23, 2023. He was born on April 27, 1927, to Alvin and Annie (Riehm) Sprague. He was a graduate of Clay High School and Toledo University. Alvin served in the U.S. Navy after high school. He has lived most of his life in the family’s historic 150-year-old home. The house was built by Daniel and Annie Coy around 1860. Six generations of the family have lived there.
Franklin is survived by his sister Beverly Gillaspie; niece Kadie (Steve) Senesi; nephews Jeff Sprague, Michael Sprague, and Steve (Karen Lindner) Sprague; cousins Mary Lou (Riehm) Anderson, David Riehm, and James Riehm. Franklin was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Ann Armenta and Evelyn Bartlett; brother Gordon Sprague; and nephews Robert Arquette, Peter Arquette, and Dr. Matthew Arquette.
A visitation will be held at First St. Mark Lutheran Church 1121 Grasser Street in Oregon, Ohio on Saturday, April 1, 2023, from 11 a.m. until 12 noon. A funeral service will be held at 12 noon. Burial will follow in Fort Meigs Cemetery. Freck Funeral Chapel has been entrusted with the arrangements.
