FRANK J.  SCHMIDT

Frank J. Schmidt, of Oregon, Ohio passed away Friday, June 7, 2013 at his home. He was born February 14, 1923 in Toledo to Leo and Frieda (Sautter) Schmidt and served our country from 1940 to 1941 in the Civilian Conservation Corps  and enlisted in the U.S. Army honorably serving during WWII.

Frank was a Mason Tender with Union Local 500 working for Fleitz Construction, Mosser Construction and retiring with Rudolph Libbey. He was a member of the VFW Post 9816 and the Christ Dunberger Post 537. In his spare time, Frank enjoyed hunting, trapping and fishing, visiting Yellowstone National Park and travelling to FL during the winter months. He enjoyed sports and was an avid fan of the Oregon girls’ softball Gators.

He is survived by his daughters, Deborah L. (Victor) Glass and Brenda (Gary) Johlin; son, Brian (Diane) Schmidt; grandchildren, Holley Miller, Mellissa Phillips, Stacey Glass, Shannon Schmidt, Tiffany Schmidt, Christine Gilbertson, Bridgette McCellan, Mike Schmidt and Freda Schmidt; 18 great-grandchildren; sister, Rosie Foster and cousin, Elsie Sayne. Frank was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Frieda; wife, Audrey L. (Ory) Schmidt; brother, Bill Schmidt; grandson, Troy Phillips; great-granddaughters, Dru and Jada and cousin, Al Deiter.

Family and friends may visit from 2-8 p.m. on Tuesday, June 11, 2013 in the Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S Wynn Rd., Oregon, where the funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday. Burial will follow at Lake Township Cemetery. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider Odyssey Hospice-a Gentiva Company.
