FRANCIS A. STONER, SR.

Francis A. Stoner, Sr. 96, of Walbridge, OH passed away on Tuesday, November 18, 2014, at Mercy-St. Charles Hospital. He was born in Bucyrus, OH on September 24, 1918, to Jesse and Nina (Fauser) Stoner. Francis began his 40 year career as a Conductor with NY Central and then Conrail where he retired from in 1979. He owned and operated Stoner Marine Supply for about 20 years closing the business in 1971. Francis enjoyed baseball and in his younger years played semi-pro for the Toledo Blade-Indians.  He also enjoyed racing hydroplanes, hunting, fishing, golfing and trapshooting.

Francis is survived by his loving wife, Lena “Ruth” Stoner; sons, Francis Stoner, Jr., Jim (Cathy) Stoner and Mark (Ellen) Stoner; grandchildren, Julie (Mark) Gwinn, Steve Stoner, Justin Stoner, Amanda (Trevor) Tufts and Melissa Stoner; great-grandchildren, Peyton and Reilly Gwinn, Kyle Stoner, Ava and Henry Tufts and sister, Nina Ewald; He was preceded in death by his parents; infant daughter; daughter-in-law, Joyce Stoner; two brothers and one sister.

Family and friends may visit the Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S. Wynn Rd, Oregon, on Friday, November 21, 2014 from 2-8 p.m. and after 10 a.m. on Saturday at Northwood Church of God, 3375 Curtice Rd, Northwood, OH 43619 where the funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Northwood Church of God.
