Floyd Albert (aka Fat) Tefft, 84, of Curtice, Ohio passed away at Orchard Villa Hospice on Monday, November 15, 2021.  He was born on April 10, 1937 in Bowling Green, Ohio to Floyd and Margaret (Hausenbeck) Tefft.  He attended Clay High School and left in his senior year to work as a seaman/wheelsman on the Great Lakes Freighters.  He worked for over 40 years at the Toledo World Terminal (TWT) serving in several positions including his last position of Marine Superintendent.  He retired from TWT in 2008.  He was very community oriented and served as a volunteer fireman for the Jerusalem Township Fire Department for over 40 years and had the privilege of serving as their Fire Chief for several years.  He served two terms as a Jerusalem Township trustee.  Floyd was a member of Hope Community Church of the Nazarene where he took great joy being a greeter and making many friends over the years.

Floyd is survived by his daughters, Paula (Craig) Wendt and Deborah Tefft; grandchildren, Paul Tomanicek and Colleen Rich; and great grandson, Tyler Rich.  He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Ina; and siblings, Richard, Raymond, Robert, William, Betty, Anna Mae, Rosie, Donnie, and Dale.

Floyd was a very loving person, always smiling, generous, and willing to help anyone at any time.  He took great joy in feeding his birds, especially the Baltimore orioles, and taking care of his flower garden.  He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

The family wants to give a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Susan Federman and Ohio Living Hospice for their special care of Floyd.

Family and friends may visit Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S. Wynn Road in Oregon, Ohio on Wednesday, November 17, 2021 from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. where a firemen's service will take place at 6:00 p.m.  Private burial will be held at Restlawn Memorial Park.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Jerusalem Twp. Fire Dept.; Hope Community Church of the Nazarene, or Friends of Ottawa National Wildlife Refuge.
