Florence Flo (Miller) Heintschel

Florence C. Heintschel. age 86, of Curtice, Ohio passed away on Sunday, January 5, 2014 at Mercy St. Charles Hospital under hospice care.  She was born on March 3, 1927 in Toledo to Edwin and Marcella Miller.  Florence was a graduate of Whitmer High School and attended Business School before becoming a bookkeeper for Toledo Scale Company, which she later left to be a loving wife and mother.  She met William Heintschel through mutual friends on a blind date and married on November 3, 1956.  Together they raised their 3 children.  Bill took a city gal and brought her to the country.  She later returned to work for the JC Penney Company in the catalog and credit departments, retiring after many years.

Flo was a parishioner of St. Ignatius Catholic Church and an active member of Altar Rosary Society, Eucharistic minister and a volunteer at St. Louis Soup Kitchen and at St. Charles Hospital. She was an active member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority- 60 years.  In her younger years, she enjoyed bowling on her bowling leagues with church and community and was a Red Cross Volunteer.  Flo was known as a kind person who thought of others’ needs before herself and was a great Christian role model for everyone that she came in contact with.  She will be dearly missed.

Florence is survived by loving children, Maryjo (James) Freimark, Leo Heintschel and Tom (Patty) Heintschel; grandchildren, Chrissy (AJ) Sanchez, Anthony Heintschel, Matthew Freimark, Joshua and Cassidy Heintschel; brothers, Richard Miller and Charles (Geraldine) Miller; sister, Helen (Art) Spitznagel.  She is also survived by In-laws: Jean “Sis” (Walt) Rettenberger, Betty (Rudy) Beham, Esther (Theodore) Hornstein, Ray (Marilyn) Heintschel, Delores Schumsky, Janet (Jim) Wlodarz, Marge (Bill) Stoner, Theresa Ivan and Jerry Heintschel as well as many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents, step mom, Stella; husband, William Heintschel and grandson, Jacob Freimark.

Family and friends may visit the Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S Wynn Rd., Oregon on Thursday, January 9, 2014 from 5-8 p.m. the rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. and on Friday, January 10, 2014, from 2-8 p.m. where Beta Sigma Phi service will be held at 4 p.m.  The funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday at St. Ignatius Catholic Church at 10 a.m.  where the family will greet friends one hour prior to the service.  Burial will follow at St. Ignatius Cemetery.  Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider St. Ignatius Church "Our Journey, Our Future" building fund or donors choice.
