Evelyn Marie (Downing) Emch

Evelyn M. Emch, age 98, of Walbridge, Ohio passed into the arms of the Lord on Sunday, December 17, 2023.  She was born on April 7, 1925 in Toledo, Ohio to Lyle and Gwendolyn Downing.  Evelyn married John L Emch on March 5, 1942 and was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend.  She enjoyed playing games especially cards and marbles.  Evelyn loved spending time with her family, traveling and visiting Carpenter Lake in Michigan.  She was often found working crossword and jigsaw puzzles in her spare time.  Evelyn was an avid bowler, enjoying the game well into her 90’s.  Evelyn was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Stony Ridge where she volunteered for church activities and worked in the Thrift Shop.

Evelyn is survived by her daughters, Judy Mauter and Vicky Dazey; grandchildren, Tammy (Jeff) Wallace, Gregory (Lori) Mauter, Kelly (Mike) Davis, Karen (Al) BeVier, James Mauter, Shannon (Jim) Cleary and Frank Dazey; six step grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and two great great-grandchildren.  She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, John; sister, Marilyn Tracy-Gigandet; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Frank and Sophie Emch; sisters-in-law, Mary Finkbeiner, Melva Revill and Rosanna Emch; brothers-in-law, Willis Finkbeiner, Harold Emch, Al Revill, and Lawrence Tracy; sons-in-law, Richard (Pat) Mauter and, Gene Dazey.

Friends may visit on Wednesday, December 20, 2023 from 5-7:00 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Stony Ridge.  Additional visitation will take place on Thursday at the church from 10-11:00 a.m. where services will be held at 11:00 a.m.  Burial will follow in New Belleville Ridge Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Heartland Hospice or St. John’s Lutheran Church.
