Ernestine "Tina" Menchaca

Ernestine Menchaca, age 93, of Oregon, Ohio passed away on Thursday, January 4, 2024 at Gardens of St. Francis.  She was born on November 23, 1930 in Houston, Texas to Anastascio and Ruth Garcia.  Tina worked for the Lucas County Health Department for 25 years, retiring in 1985.  She was a member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church for over 50 years, before it’s closing.  Tina loved to spend time with her family, attending the kid’s sporting events, and cooking for everyone.  She led boy scout groups for many years.  She will be dearly missed.

Tina is survived by her children, Russ Menchaca, Annie Menchaca Bratton, Randy Menchaca, Mark (Kelley) Menchaca, and Maria Menchaca; grandchildren, Jena, Chelsea, Michael, Alicia, Kaylah, Cameron, Zyanya, Leo, Keifer and Logan; great-grandchildren, Ernest V, Jordyn, Jazmyn, and Kai; and her siblings, Olga Tucker, Nora (Joe) Floyd, Josie Alejandro, Rudy “Joe” (Irma) Garcia, Stanley Garcia, and David “Homer” Garcia.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Anastascio and Ruth; her husband, Rosendo Menchaca; son, Howard “Bob” Menchaca; and siblings, John, Alfonso, Eddie, Ernest, Helen, Dora, Gloria, and Lilly.

Family and friends may visit the Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S. Wynn Rd in Oregon on Friday, January 12, 2024, from 4-8:00 p.m.  A memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, at 10:30 a.m. at Epiphany of the Lord Catholic Church-St Thomas Aquinas Parish where family will greet guests after 9:30 a.m.  Memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
