Erik Alan Young

Erik Alan Young, age 31, passed away in his home, in Oregon, on Saturday, January 15, 2022. Erik was born in Toledo at Riverside Hospital on March 26, 1990, to parents Ted and Helen Young. He was a 2008 graduate of Clay High School and received a culinary certificate from Owens Community College in 2011.

Despite enduring several disabilities and prior to a recent diagnosis of M.S. Erik had quite a sense of humor and had deep compassion for others. He enjoyed online P.C. gaming and developed quite a rapport with many gamers from around the country. Erik worked in food service for The Manor at Perrysburg. He was quite fond of his co-workers and showed empathy for the residents.

Erik is survived by his mother; sister Andraya (Chris Rodriguez) Young; half-brothers Gabe (Sara) Young and Nick (Jen) Young; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and special feline Oreo-Louie.

Erik was preceded in death by his father, grandparents Fred and Maria Schwarz, Bill and Charlene Young, and cousin Allison Sturgill.

After Erik’s passing, he became a tissue donor. Cremation has been entrusted to Freck Funeral Chapel. A celebration of Erik’s life will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions are appreciated to the Children’s Tumor Foundation or the MS Society.
