Elroy H. Dunmyer, 87, of Oregon, Ohio passed away on January 20, 2012 at Mercy St. Charles Hospital. He was born on January 4, 1925 to Calvin and Cora (Neeb) Dunmyer. Elroy worked for the Sun Oil for 42 ½ years, retiring in 1985. He was a member of the Cooley Canal Yacht Club and in his younger years he drove bus for the seniors at the E.U.B. Church. Elroy spent his retirement fishing, camping and enjoying his family and friends.
He is survived by his loving wife, Phyllis (Phillips-Smith) Dunmyer; sons, Robert (Sue) Dunmyer and Tim Dunmyer; grandchildren: Robert Dunmyer and Tammy (Scott) Henegar; great-grandchildren: Chelsea & Braedan Henegar; step sons, David (Lois) Smith, Gail Smith, Donald (Judy) Smith and Norman (Jeannie) Smith; step grandchildren: Marc (Jennifer) Smith, Amy (Eric) Barker, Angie (Joel) Graham, Jennifer (Andrew) Knorr, Thomas (Julie) Smith, Lisa (Jason) Cook, Krista (Keith) Sweeny, Jacqueline (William) Zaboriski, Shelly Smith and Joe Pyle; 20 great great-grandchildren; sister, Lila May Willis and brother, Gerald (Jean) Dunmyer. Elroy was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Ruth Miller and Naomi Swartz; brother, Vernon Dunmyer and daughter-in-law, Sue Dunmyer.
Family and friends may visit Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S. Wynn Rd in Oregon on Monday, January 23, 2012 from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. where funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. Burial will be held at Oakwood Cemetery.
