Ella Mae Metzler, a women loved by all, passed away at home surrounded by her family in the evening of June 29, 2023. She is now at peace with the angels in heaven and will forever be missed. Ella was born at home March 24, 1941 in Toledo, Ohio during an ice storm. She was born to Paul and Mary Wheeler, who proceeded her in death, along with her sister Rosemary Montgomery and the love of her life Robert Wesley Berry Sr., who she was reunited with in the end. She is survived by her children Angela Berry, Lisa (Alan) Duffy, Robert (Holly) Berry Jr.; grandchildren, Jacqueline (Steve) Broda, Elizabeth (Edward) Purley, Robert Berry Jr., Rebecca Berry, Heather (Joshua) Gray, Liam Duffy; great grandchildren, Tristan Vasko, Racquel Broda, Alexis Purley, Arianna Purley, Alasia Purley, Ella Gray, Forest Gray; best friend, Marion Parkins along with many beautiful nieces and nephews.

Ella was an amazing caregiver for many years. Little Sisters Of The Poor, Lutheran Homes and Heartland of Perrysburg are all places she devoted her time and priceless energy towards. Ella was a hard worker and knew how to get things done, all while keeping a smile. She was simply the best. Ella was also a talented doll maker and doll making instructor for many years. She enjoyed all things pretty in life and decorating her dolls was a big part. Playing cards with family, swimming, decorating the yard and house, spoiling the family dogs, thrifting with her daughter Lisa, crafting and teaching the grandchildren are all things that brought her joy in life. She was always keeping herself busy with the next idea and kept her family on their toes until the very end. Ella was strong to say the least, she was the embroidery that kept our family tapestry together.  She had an infectious laugh that brought joy everywhere she went.  Always giving love and good advice. Ella was solely devoted to her kids and grandchildren. She protected us all from everything she could and taught us all she knew. She was our rock. Her wisdom will live though all the family she has created over the years. Her legacy will live though us. R.I.P Ella Mae Metzler, Grandma, Mame, Mom, Wife and Friend. She will be missed dearly by all who knew her. No services will be held per Ella’s wishes.
