Elizabeth Johanna (Henningsen) Schroeder, 96, passed away on Saturday, November 19, 2016 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio Perrysburg Center.  She was born in Curtice, Ohio on December 31, 1919 to Martin Henningsen and Emma Johnson.  She was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Church in Williston. Betty was a 1937 graduate of Genoa High School and on December 21, 1944 she married Charlie Schroeder.  Betty worked at Dier’s Store, Curtice Grain Elevator and the Curtice Post Office.

Betty traveled extensively to Europe, the Caribbean, Alaska and Hawaii.

Betty’s passion for singing started at the Curtice Church Choir and later at Christ United Methodist Church in Oregon, Ohio.  She also enjoyed baking for family and friends.  Betty was the keeper of the Henningsen rye bread recipe and baked many loaves for her loved ones.

Betty is survived by her sons, Marty (Marta) Schroeder and David (Diana) Schroeder; grandchildren, Brian (Anna) Schroeder, Brandi (Denny) Walerius, Nathan Schroeder, Joe (Katie) Materni, Max Schroeder and Mason Schroeder; great-grandchildren, Carson, Dylan, Blake and Brantley.  Betty was preceded in death by her loving husband, of 58 years, Charlie; parents, Martin and Emma Henningsen; siblings, Marie, Clarence, Minerd, Marjorie, Lester, Jonnel and Harold.

Family and friends may visit the Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S. Wynn Rd in Oregon on Sunday (Today), November 20, 2016 from 2-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. at Christ United Methodist Church, 5757 Starr Ave. in Oregon where family will greet guests after 10 a.m.  Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.  Those wishing to make an expression of sympathy in Betty’s memory are asked to consider Christ United Methodist Church.  The family would like to especially thank the staff at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Perrysburg and special friend, Carolyn Lovell.
