Edwin Garfield Knepper, Jr. of Walbridge, OH died on April 29, 2013 at his home surrounded by family and friends. Born May 17, 1925 in Bowling Green to Dr. & Mrs. Edwin G. Knepper.
Ed’s career was spent as an educator. After 13 years at Whitmer High School, he then was instrumental in establishing the Penta County Technical College where he became the Dean of Business Technologies. Learning to play the trumpet when he was young lead to a lifetime filled with music. His musical career included being a member of the navy band playing for USO shows and being first chair trumpet in the Toledo Symphony. Ed was a lifetime member of the Toledo Federation of Musicians, Wood County Teachers Association and the Technical Teachers Association.
Preceded in death by his parents, Edwin and Grace, his brothers, Noah and John, and his beloved wife & sweetheart of 50 years, Wilhelmina May (LaChine). He is survived by several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, as well as many friends. His kind smile and gentle, caring nature will be missed by everyone who knew him.
Visitation will be at the Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S. Wynn Rd, Oregon Friday, May 3 from 6-8 pm. Funeral services will be held there on Saturday, May 4, 2013 at 10 am. Internment will follow at Lake Township Cemetery. Memorials may be sent to Hospice of Northwest Ohio (Perrysburg Center) or the charity of the donors’ choice.
