Edwin “Eddie” Evans

Edwin Evans, 82, of Toledo, Ohio passed away on Friday, October 26, 2018 at Mercy Health-St. Charles Hospital.  He was born on July 3, 1936 in Curtice, Ohio to Iris and Walter Evans.  Eddie served in the U.S. Army Reserves for 8 years.  He worked at Hunt Wesson Foods for 32 years and later at Petro Truck Stop for 5 years.  Eddie enjoyed yard work, going to car races at Toledo Speedway and old time boxing.  He will be dearly missed.

Eddie is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Miriam Evans; children, Teresa (Bobby) Evans-Anderson, Kimber (Randall) Grindle, John (Susan) Evans and Tamber (Christopher) Laux; grandchildren, John Evans, Timothy (Kearstin Horn) Grindle, Matthew and Melissa Laux; great-granddaughter, Emma Grindle; sister, Sandra (Michael) LaCourse; sister-in-law, Ginny Shafer and many nieces, nephews and friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Walter Evans; grandson, Randy Grindle, Jr. and siblings, Owen (Mary) Evans, Clarence Evans, Nancy (Mel) Brown, Ronny (Judy) Shafer, Gloria Shafer and Pete Shafer.

Family and friends may visit the Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S. Wynn Rd in Oregon on Thursday, November 1, 2018, from 2-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Friday in the funeral home at 11 a.m.  Burial will follow at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park. Memorial contributions can be made to American Heart Association or the charity of Donor’s choice.
