Edward John Sundermeier age 78 of Port Clinton and formerly of Toledo passed away on February 26, 2024. Edward was born on June 22, 1945. He was a 1963 graduate of Lake High School where he played basketball, football, ran track, and made many lifelong friends. Ed retired as a truck driver and barber. He loved Ohio State and the Cleveland Browns. In his younger years, he enjoyed playing softball and competing in pool leagues. Ed enjoyed taking people fishing on his boat to Put-In-Bay and Kelley’s Island. He loved cutting hair for all his friends and family as they were a captive audience while he told his stories. Later on in life, he enjoyed hand-carving walking sticks for the elderly. Ed was the kind of person who enjoyed helping anyone with anything they needed. He was a salty sailor who was loved by all and will be highly missed.
Ed is survived by his children Charles (Dionne Cadiente-Laiti Blattner) Blattner, Jason (Audi Berg) Sundermeier, Gwendolyn (Robert) Lusardi, Brendt (Lisa) Sundermeier; grandchildren Alyssa, Keirstyn, Phillip, Sophia, Marcedes (Matt), Boston, Tiffany, Scott (India), and Nicole (Dillon); great-grandchildren Theo, Charlie, Ben, Gus, Clayton, and Mila; siblings Pamela Schneider, Linda (Gordon) Hanthorn, Diane (Tom) Mahas, and Michelle (Tim) Harrington; close cousin Christina Rehm; lifelong friends Ken and Judy Mason, Dale and Joan Stiles, Pat and Val Lutman, Randy Fowler, Doug Ramsey, Anne Bartsch and his first wife Stephanie Sundermeier. He was preceded in death by his father Mike Sundermeier, mother Pat Sundermeier, father Robert Miles, and Aunt Helen May Rocha.
Friends are invited to Freck Funeral Chapel 1155 S Wynn Rd in Oregon, Ohio for a memorial gathering on March 6, 2024 from 5 until 7 p.m. A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. A private burial will be held at Lake Township Cemetery. Contributions are appreciated to the Toledo Humane Society.
