Edna K. Skivers, 94, of Northwood, OH passed away Sunday, June 5, 2016 at Otterbein of Monclova skilled nursing facility.  She was born July 6, 1921 in Columbus Grove, OH the daughter of Harold and Erma (Davis) Shock. She was the third oldest of eleven children.

Edna was preceded in death by her husband, Donald; sons, Roger (Marianne) and Dennis and daughter, Brenda.  She is survived by three children, daughter, Linda (Kenneth) Harris of Grand Rapids, OH; son, Donald (Barbara) Skivers of Youngsville, NC and son, Richard Skivers of Walbridge, OH.  She is also survived by four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.  Also surviving are sisters, Luella Corfman and Ruthann Dorsett and brother, Robert Shock.  Edna also leaves behind many cousins, nieces and nephews.  She had an especially close bond with her cousin, Margie Blue of Napoleon, OH.

Edna was a graduate of Eden High School in Wyandot County, OH where she spent much of her childhood.  Edna was active in many school activities and sports.  She married Donald on May 9, 1942 at her parents’ home on Brice Avenue in Lima, OH.  The wedding was officiated by Rev. John Wesley Shock, who was Edna’s paternal grandfather.  During World War II, Edna worked building windshields for military aircraft alongside her good friend, Gracie Woodling.  She was very involved in her children’s music, sports and other school activities and even found time to work for several years as a waitress and man years as a Wood County poll worker.  She was an avid league bowler for over 50 years and enjoyed Yahtzee and hand held poker games.

Family and friends may visit the Freck Funeral Chapel on Friday, June 10, 2016 from 2–8 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Toledo Memorial Park in Sylvania, OH. The family requests that memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
