Dwaine “Lucky” Thames

Dwaine Lamont Thames, “Lucky”, 61, of Toledo, Ohio passed away on Friday, July 17th, 2020. He was born in Toledo, OH on August 10th, 1958, his true birthdate, to Walter and Willie Lee Thames. Dwaine was a 1976 graduate of Waite High School where he was an All-American basketball player and attended The University of Findlay. He later went to work at Interlake Steel with his father Walter and father-in-law James Traylor. After that he also went to work at the Toledo Shipyard and on the railroad. Dwaine was an avid sports fan, but his favorite sport was Golf. During his lifetime he coached basketball, baseball and football. Dwaine was inducted into the Greater Birmingham Hall of Fame for Basketball.

Dwaine is survived by his wife of 13 years, Roxann Traylor; His sons; Dwaine Jr. (Mary) and Ryan Thames, Jordan Dumas; Daughters; Brianna (Justin) Myers and Carolann Dudas. Grandchildren; Brayden and Delante Thames, Issac Burciaga, Preston Hatch, Alajah and Annalise Thames, Analyn and Kinsley Myers. Siblings; Milton (Ginger) Carswell, Ricky (Kathy) Thames, Deborah (Em) Gullatt, Yvonne Hunter and Gloria Thames. A host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his Parents and brothers Johnny Carswell, Marshall Sr., Grady and Walter Jr. Thames.

Family and friends may visit Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S. Wynn Rd Oregon, OH 43616 on Sunday, July 26, 2020 from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM where services will be held on Monday, July 27, 2020 at 11:00 AM.  Interment will be private.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Hickman Cancer Center or Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
