Dr. Charles "Joe" Hardin

Dr. Charles J. Hardin, 95, of Oregon, Ohio passed away peacefully in his sleep on Friday, October 12, 2018.  He was born on January 12, 1923 in Toledo, Ohio to Charles and Helen Hardin.  Joe was a 1941 graduate of Waite High School and was an officer in the U.S. Army, during WWII.  Joe attended the University of Michigan and the Ohio State University where he earned a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine.  He worked as a veterinarian for the Toledo Zoo from 1966-1982 and as a track vet for Raceway Park until 1988.

Joe married his wife, Isabel on November 29, 1952.  He enjoyed watching their children’s sporting events, bowling, fishing, hunting and gardening. Joe and Isabel spent many winters in Naples, FL.  Joe was a member of the Cardinal Stritch boosters club.  He will be dearly missed.

Joe is survived by his wife, Isabel; children, Mary Jo (Jon) Gillette, Susan (Bill) Wood, Beth (Eric) Klemm, Joe (Rajlakshmi) Hardin and Julie (Dan) Schultz; 7 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Helen Snider, Ettie Snider, John Hardin, Zelma Wilguess and Mazie Hardin.

Family and friends may visit the Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S. Wynn Rd in Oregon on Monday, October 15, 2018, from 2-7 p.m. where funeral service will be held at 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the charity of choice.
