DOUGLAS F. L. KELLY

Douglas Kelly, 89, of Oregon, Ohio, passed away Wednesday, February 12, 2014, at Orchard Villa in Oregon. He was born in Toledo on May 19, 1924 to Leopold and Elsie (Alexander) Kelly and was a 1941 graduate of Waite High School. Douglas served our country in the U.S. Army during WWII receiving a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star.

He worked in various capacities for Fiske Bros. Refinery, retiring in 1980 due to his health. In his spare time, Douglas enjoyed working in his yard and was a faithful member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Oregon, a 65 year member of the Sylvania Pyramid Lodge No. 0287 F. & A. M. and the Arthur Daly American Legion Post 334.

Doug is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Alice (Kazmierczak) Kelly; daughter, Sherrie (Frank) Fata; son, Scott (Laurie) Kelly; grandchildren, Dr. Cori (Matthew) Fata-Hartley, Brian Fata and Madison Kelly; great-grandsons, Lukas and Thomas Hartley; brothers-in-law, Gerald (Sue) Kazmier, Thomas Kazmierczak and sisters-in-law, Chris Murphy, Ona Kazmier and Frannie Kazmierczak along with many dear nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.

In honoring Doug’s wishes, services and burial in Lake Twp Cemetery will remain private. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 798 S Coy Rd, Oregon, Ohio 43616. The family wishes to thank the staff at St. Charles Hospital and Hospice of Northwest Ohio for their care and support.
