It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of our loving and devoted mother, Dorothy on January 21, 2022 at the age of 92 or as she liked to say her 93 rd year. She was the beloved mother of Joanne (Robert) Carrasquillo, Willie Jr, Marie Kathleen, Amy, Paul (Penny) White, John, Karen (Tom) Steinmetz, proud grandmother of Danielle, Jennifer, Melissa, Sara, Andy, David, Brint, Brian, Brad, Tommy, Nick, and Lexi; great-grandma to 19. In addition to her parents, Stanislaus and Joanna Lewandowski, she was preceded in death by her devoted husband, William Sr.; children, William Jr, Marie Kathleen, Amy, John, son-in-law, Robert Carrasquillo; sister, Mary, Angeline, Lou, June, Lillian; brothers, Harry, and Ben.
Dorothy was a dedicated mother first and foremost. She treasured her children and grandchildren. Our mother was a strong woman who had been through a lot. What does the word strong mean in the Bible? To be strong in faith that God is there for us always to guide us through. What does it mean to be Strong in Faith? To trust the Lord and know the promises of God are sure. We need to abide in God’s word. We need to apply God’s word to our lives: Believe it, live it, trust it, apply and pray according to God’s word. And last, we need to have faith in Jesus and in God’s word. Our mother lived this way!
She graduated from Central Catholic High School. She married her loving husband, William in 1951. She worked in her earlier years at A&P and Kroger and later in Real Estate. She was a member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church where her children attended school. She is a current member of St. Jerome Catholic Church and was a lector and a member of the Altar and Rosary Society. She was a UFCW retiree. Dorothy loved to play Bingo and visit the casino with her longtime friends, Pat, Jeanette, and Pat. Most of all she loved God and her family and instilled in her children, strong values that have served them well. She will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, January 28, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Jerome Catholic Church, 300 Warner Street in Walbridge where a rosary will be offered at 8:30 a.m. and a brief showing will take place from 9-10:00 a.m. We kindly ask those who are attending to please wear a mask.
