Donna Rae (Sedlak) O'Connor, of Oregon, Ohio, was born to Louis and Dolores (Cannon) Sedlak on October 31, 1949. She passed away peacefully on December 10, 2016 at Mercy St. Vincent hospital, surrounded by her loving family. Donna was a lifelong resident of Northwest Ohio and in later years enjoyed spending winters in Florida with many friends. Donna, a graduate of Morrison R. Waite High School in 1967, married her high school sweetheart, Timothy M. O'Connor, on August 10, 1969 at St. Thomas Aquinas. Together they raised three children. Donna was a hard worker and held positions at Detwiler Golf Course, National Family Opinion, The Mailing Post and retired from Bowling Green State University where she was loved and appreciated by many students. Throughout her life, Donna enjoyed baking, cooking, crafts, summers in her pond, winters in Florida and most of all Christmas. Donna was an avid volunteer. She was active in her community and was secretary and commissioner of the East Toledo Junior Football League (ETJFL). She held various positions in the Raymer Mother's Club and was on the Board of Directors for the East Toledo Family Center. Donna was very family oriented; cherishing the time she spent with her kids, grandkids and great-grandkids. Her expression of love was food. She was an excellent cook and baker. If she knew you she fed you. Donna will be remembered for her generosity, forgiving nature, quick wit, endearing smile and her contagious laugh.
Donna is survived by her husband Tim “Bugs”; daughter, Amy O'Connor (Craig Budzinski); sons, T.J. (Frances Meagher) O'Connor, Sean (Monica Brinkman) O'Connor; grandchildren, Ashley, Abby, Cody, Alexis, Declan, Maely and Finn; five great-grandchildren; mother-in-law, Ethel O’Connor; siblings, Bill (Nancy) Sedlak, Larry (Terri) Sedlak, Janice Kerstetter, Kathy (John) Hatfield, Barb (Rick) Manion and Deanna “Dee Dee” Nagengast; Sisters-in-law, Patti Sedlak-Schinharl (Ron Schinharl), Sandy Sancrant (Lee Whitfield), Deb (Gary) Haas, Pat (Ron) Johnson and Marlene (Scott) Barnhart; as well as many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Donna was preceded in death by her parents; father-in-law, Timothy J. O’Connor; brothers; Tom and Jim Sedlak; godson, Cliff “Tip” Smith and brother-in-law, Don Kerstetter.
A Memorial Visitation celebrating Donna’s life will be held in the Freck Funeral Chapel 1155 S. Wynn Rd, Oregon Ohio on Friday, December 16, 2016 from 2 to 8 p.m. A Memorial Service will take place in the Funeral Chapel the following day at 11 a.m. with the family to receive guests one hour prior. Inurnment will be private. Memorial contributions may be made to Transverse Myelitis Association.
