DONALD J. WINGERTER
Donald J. Wingerter, 58, of Oregon, Ohio passed away Sunday, January 12, 2014 at Mercy-St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo. He was born in Oregon on March 20, 1955 to Donald E. and Leona (Boos) Wingerter and was married to the love of his life, Margaret Ann (Esper) Wingerter. Don served our country in the U.S. Army and a member of the 82nd Airborne Division. He was currently employed as a welder with Art Iron, Inc. He had a special love for dogs, especially the Alaskan Mal. Donald and his wife, Margaret were involved with the Alaskan Malamute Rescue for many years.
He is survived by his father, Don; sister, Carol (Richard) Burbach; nieces, Dawna (Scott) Tanner and Jacqueline Truman; great-nieces and great nephew, Ali, Troy and Rae. Don was preceded in death by his mother, Leona and wife, Margaret.
Family and friends may visit on Thursday, January 16, 2014 from 2-8 p.m. in the Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S. Wynn Rd in Oregon where a scripture service will begin at 7 p.m. Funeral services will begin in the funeral home on Friday at 9:30 a.m. continuing on with the Mass of Christian Burial at Epiphany of the Lord Parish - Sacred Heart Catholic Church at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow at St. Ignatius Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alaskan Malamute Assistance League.
