Donald K. Monroe, 96, of Oregon, Ohio passed away on Friday, July 8, 2016 at Bay Park Hospital.  He was born on July 27, 1919 in Toledo, Ohio to Glenn and Anna Monroe.  Donald was a graduate of Waite High School and served in the U.S. Army, during WWII.  He worked as a machine operator for Doehler-Jarvis for over 40 years.  In his spare time, he enjoyed his ham radio, fishing and going to garage sales.

Donald is survived by his children, Donald K. (Carole) Monroe Jr., Sandy (Dennis) Lewinski, Charlene (Joseph) Dixon, Roger Monroe, and Pamela Monroe, 7 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and sister, Grace Kirian.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary; sister, Eleanor Henzler and brothers, Walt, Glenn and Bill.

Family and friends may visit the Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S. Wynn Rd, Oregon, on Tuesday, July 12, 2016 from 2-8 p.m.  Funeral services will be held on Wednesday in the funeral home at 11 a.m.   Burial will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park.  Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
