Donald D. Dutton, 79, of Curtice, OH. passed away on April 4, 2013 at Hospice of NW OH. Don was born to Harry and Irene (Keeton) Dutton on July 5, 1933. He was kind-hearted, helpful (especially to children and geriatric acquaintances), generous, great work ethic and a loyal friend to many. Don and his wife, Irma, operated Don’s Bait and Tackle store. He wholesaled bait to many stores in the area and chartered a fishing boat.
From a young boy on, Don did various jobs and activities, including doing wiring inside of water towers, working in greenhouses, helping neighbors and even taking flying lessons. He was a former member of Cooley Canal Yacht Club. Don was a member of the Genoa American Legion Post 324 and Emmanuel Baptist Church. Don enjoyed family, good food, good friends and traveling. God works in mysterious ways. After open heart surgery, Don and special friend, Doris, returned to Emmanuel Baptist Church, where he re-connected with his Lord. Don found peace and tranquility, knowing where his eternal home would be.
Surviving Don is his brother, James Dutton; sister, Anna Lou (Bob) Daly; in-laws, Jim (Marilyn) Hartman, Bob (Milly) Dierker, Gene (Lou) Fairbanks, Harriet Hartman; many nieces, nephews and special friend, Doris Titgemeyer. Don was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Irma (Hartman) Dutton and in-laws, Marian Dutton, Dottie Hartman and Jay Hartman.
Friends and family may visit the Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S Wynn Rd., Oregon, on Sunday April 7, 2013 from 2-8p.m. Friends may gather at 9 a.m. at the funeral chapel on Monday to join the family for a 9:30 a.m. graveside service at Lake Township Cemetery. A Memorial service will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. at Emmanuel Baptist Church, 4207 W. Laskey Rd, Toledo. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider Emmanuel Baptist Church.
