David A. Westhoven

David A. Westhoven, 74, of Oregon, Ohio passed away on Monday,  May 30, 2016 at Mercy-St. Vincent Hospital. He was born in Toledo to Vincent and Ethel (Allison) Westhoven and was a 1959 graduate of Whitmer High School. He served in the Army National Guard and was a member of the American Legion Christ Dunberger Post 537. David retired from Washtenaw County as a Master Carpenter after many years of service. He was a 32nd degree Mason with the Ann Arbor Fraternity No. 262 and a lifetime member of the Zal Gaz Grotto No. 34. He was also a member of Loyal Order of Moose Port Clinton Lodge 1610. David enjoyed NASCAR , classic cars and showing his own 55 Chevy at various shows. He loved fishing but most of all spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his beloved friend, Sharon Newton; children, Mark (Melissa) Westhoven, Michael (Jillian) Westhoven, Kelly (Doug) Vanderzwart, Kevin (Jopha) Newton and Kyle (Pamela) Newton; grandchildren, Madison, Mackenzie, Steffan, Mitchell, Justin, Jessica, Kody, Jennifer, Kara, John and Crate; mother of his children, Sue Huelke; and sister, Nancy (Jim) Meyer. David was preceded in death by his parents.

Family and friends may visit the Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S. Wynn Rd, Oregon, on Thursday, June 2, 2016 from 10-3 p.m. with the Funeral Service to begin at 3:00 p.m. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to David’s fraternal affiliations: Christ Dunberger Post 537, the Zal Gaz Grotto or the Port Clinton Lodge 1610.
