David Michael Sansing

January 10, 1955 — August 1, 2021

David Michael Sansing, age 66 of Oregon, passed away on Sunday, August 1, 2021 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio following a one year battle with cancer. He was born on January 10, 1955 to Clarence and Imelda (Grizzell) Sansing. David graduated from Waite High School in 1973. He married the love of his life Cheryl (Platvoet) on March 26, 1977.

David spent his entire career working in retail sales, having worked for Burger Chef, Nobil Shoes, Knapp Shoes, Lazy-Boy, Fretter Appliance, Banner Mattress and Furniture and Art Van Pure Sleep. David was a Toledo city league umpire for Pee Wee and Little League Baseball. He was also a Zoo Ed Volunteer at The Toledo Zoo. He spent 33 years of volunteerism in various capacities with the zoo. He was Volunteer of the Year in 2004 and has served as past president of the Zoo Ed’s.

David is survived by his wife of 44 years, Cheryl; sons, Seth (Candace) and Thomas; grandchildren, Paul (Rachel), Frank, Dylan, Ethan and Madison; and great-granddaughter LeAnne. He was preceded in death by his parents Clarence and Imelda Sansing, and his brother Jerry.

The family would like to thank Dr. Tara Robinson, Dr. David Macari and the staff at Bay Park Infusion Center, Dr. Guynh-Nhu Vu, Partners in Home Care and Hospice of Northwest Ohio for all their loving care and support.

Family and friends may visit the Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S. Wynn Rd in Oregon on Friday, August 13, 2021, from 11:00 – 1:00 p.m. with a memorial service beginning at 1:00 p.m. Inurnment will follow at Lake Township Cemetery.
