David G. Moore age 86 passed away peacefully Saturday, March 22, 2025, at Orchard Villa. Dave was born to Robert E. and Cecilia (Bauer) Moore on February 12, 1939, in Cincinnati, Ohio. A long-time resident of the Reno Beach/Howard Farms area, he was a 1957 graduate of Clay High School. He married Roberta (James) and had three children, 12 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and 1 great great-grandson. Dave worked as a Millwright for 33 years with NSG formerly L.O.F. before retiring in 1991. Dave co-owned DG’s Soft Serve with his son David, and ran it with his family for decades. Dave was a member of Mainstreet Church where he attended Friendship Class Bible Study and took missionary trips to Jamaica. Dave was a founding member of the Clay High Alumni and Friends Association (CHAFA) providing countless hours of volunteer work supporting Clay High for many years. He also volunteered with the Salvation Army Christmas Basket Program. Dave enjoyed meeting people at DG’s, supporting many young people with their first jobs, and becoming “Poppa” to many. He owned over 30 cars in his lifetime including his infamous yellow Corvette. Dave drove everywhere and enjoyed showing off his cars at parades and Clay Homecoming. He loved festivals and playing dominos. Along with being the patriarch of his family, Dave was a good friend to many and always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need.
Dave is survived by his children Janet (Ken Brown) Moore and Bryan Moore; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandson; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, son David Moore II, grandchildren Chad Anthony Auxier and Sondra LeAnn Watkins, great-granddaughter Alexandria Madison Schnabel; brothers Robert “Bob”, Jim, Edward, Pat “Ken”, Louis, Dale, his twin John Joseph “Jack”, and sister Pat Ann Browning.
A memorial service will be held at Mainstreet Church 5465 Martin Moline Rd on Saturday, April 5, 2025, at 12 noon where a visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until noon. Burial will be private at Oakwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are appreciated to the Salvation Army, Hospice of Northwest Ohio, or Mainstreet Church.
