David L. LaPointe Sr.
David L. LaPointe Sr., 66, of Oregon, Ohio passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 22, 2015, at his home. He was born in Sylvania, Ohio, on September 17, 1948 to Gordon and Josephine (Trompeter) LaPointe. David was an auxiliary member of the U.S. Coast Guard. He was employed as a Letter Carrier for the U.S.P.S. in Toledo for 30 years until his retirement. In his spare time he enjoyed traveling, particularly to Florida and Las Vegas. David served as president of the National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association (N.A.R.F.E.) and was Treasurer of the Postal M.B.A. He was a member of Bay View Yacht Club, the Knights of Columbus and a devoted parishioner of St. Ignatius Catholic Church. David was an avid Buckeyes and Yankees fan. His family and friends feel a great loss at his passing and will miss him dearly.
David is survived by his wife, Marie LaPointe; children, David (Erin) LaPointe, Christine (Christopher) Zasada, Gordon (Samantha) LaPointe, Joel (Jennifer Soeder) LaPointe and Catherine LaPointe; granddaughter, Addison LaPointe; siblings, Thomas, Diane and Darlene LaPointe, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Family and friends may visit the Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S. Wynn Rd, Oregon, on Friday, February 27, 2015 from 3-4 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home that day at 4 p.m. Burial will be private. Memorial contributions may be given to the St. Ignatius Building Fund.
