David J. Lahey, 88, of Walbridge, Ohio, passed away on Thursday, April 2, 2015, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Perrysburg. He was born in Dowling, Ohio, on April 17, 1926 to Thomas and Ila (Eckel) Lahey and was a graduate of Bowling Green High School.
David served our country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. In his younger years, he worked as a field supervisor for Toledo Scales prior to their closing and retired from Oregon Board of Education as a groundskeeper. In his spare time, David enjoyed fishing, gardening, refurbishing boats and trucks and telling stories (real or not).
He is survived by his daughter, Jamie (Kristoffer) McCown; grandchildren, Shawn, Troy, Steven and Rajon McCown and Kathleen Lahey; sister, Ilene Devine; and brother, Kenneth Lahey along with many loving nieces and nephews. David was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Evelyn Lahey; brother, Patrick Lahey and sister, Mary Buchman.
Family and friends may visit the Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S. Wynn Rd, Oregon, on Monday, April 6, 2015 after 10 a.m. with the Funeral Service to begin at Noon. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio. The family wishes to thank the staffs of St. Luke’s Hospital and Hospice of Northwest Ohio for their compassion and loving care shown to David.
