Darlene Joan Steedman

Darlene J. Steedman, 82, of Oregon, Ohio passed away on May 23, 2022.  She fought a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease plus COPD and other ailments.  Darlene graduated from Woodward High School in 1958.  In 1956 she belonged to the Marionettes Marching Band and marched in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade in NY City.  She was a member of the Toledo Police Retirees Group.  She was an avid reader, especially James Patterson books.  Darlene enjoyed making cakes and cookies for Christmas.  She was married to the love of her life, Kenny for 47 years.  They traveled to Florida to their home for the winter.  After Kenny’s retirement, they entertained many friends and family in their pool in Oregon.  Kenny and Darlene also enjoyed going to Canada and visiting the casinos.  While she never won, Kenny made up for her.  She lost the light of her life when he died of cancer in 2014.  Her son, Jeff moved in and took good care of her and his dad before he passed.

Darlene is survived by her children, Jeff, Tim, Chuck (Shelly), and Randy; stepchildren, Kenneth Jr. and Denise; 5 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; 3 step-grandchildren; sister, Jackie (Joe) Staub, Linda (Kevin) Valine of California; brother, John Meilink; and her yorkie, Petey.  She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Ruth Meilink, her husband, Kenny; grandson, Bradly; sister, Carole Walters; brother, Ronnie; and sister, Suzie (Vernon) Croley.
