Darla E. Mcmannis

Darla E. McMannis, 84, of Oregon, OH passed away on Monday, February 21, 2022 at the Goerlich Center.  She was born on January 20, 1938 in Toledo, OH to Harry and Nina (Pheils) Brand.  Darla was a 1955 graduate of Waite High School and served in the U.S. Navy.  She married Donald McMannis on January 25, 1958 enjoying 58 years of marriage.  Darla worked various jobs over the years including, Human Resources for Ohio Citizens Bank, secretary for the Law Office of Elmer Gettys, and as a secretary at Faith United Methodist Church.

In her younger years, Darla was active with Raymer Elementary School serving as past president of the mother’s club, planning school activities and organizing the school library.  She was also a member of the Lotus Eastern Star.  In her spare time, Darla loved to travel and bowl, especially with the East Toledo Traveling League.  She enjoyed traveling to state tournaments and a few national tournaments.  Her favorites were Las Vegas and Reno, NV and Anaheim, CA.

Darla traveled to Europe, visiting London, Paris, and Brussels and was able to spend her 25th wedding anniversary in Hawaii.  She also took cruises to Alaska and the Caribbean and loved her bus trips at Easter time to Washington, DC and Branson, MO.

Darla is survived by her children, Kelly Odneal (Jeff Wilkinson) of Oregon, Ohio and Kerry (Susan) McMannis of Cincinnati, Ohio; grandsons, Colin Odneal (Heather Ferguson) of Toronto Ontario Canada, Captain Kevin (Rebekah Manon) Odneal US Army, of El Paso, TX, and Jacob McMannis of Cincinnati, OH; great-grandchildren, Owen Odneal, Atlas Hatch, Adelyn Darla Jean Odneal, nieces and nephews, Leslie (Lane) Brand Clizbe of Anaheim, CA, 2nd lieutenant USMC Tyler Clizbe of Yuma, AZ, Emma Clizbe of Austin, TX, Sarah Brand of Lahaina, HI; Lindsay, Dylan, Addyson Hall of Swanton, OH, Joel (Grace) Brand and their son, Augustine of Castle Rock, CO.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Donald; brothers, Harry (Shirley) Brand and William Brand; and nephew, Courtney Brand.

Family and friends may visit the Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S. Wynn Rd in Oregon on Saturday, February 26, 2022, from 9:00-11:00 a.m. where services will be held at 11:00 a.m.  Burial will follow at Lake Twp. Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to Goerlich Center, Heartland Hospice, or charity of the donor’s choice.  The family is very grateful for the care given at Goerlich Center and from the staff at Heartland Hospice.
