Daniel Edward Prater

Daniel Edward Prater age 82 of Oregon passed away Thursday, July 20, 2023, at Orchard Villa. Daniel was born to Daniel Burton and Betty Jane (Underwood) Prater in Toledo, Ohio on December 13, 1940. He graduated from Woodward High School and married the love of his life Margaret (Kun) on January 22, 1962. Margaret preceded him in death in 2015. Daniel retired from the City of Oregon working in the maintenance department after 35 years of service. He loved collecting McCoy Pottery, cookie jars, and Pyrex. In his free time, he liked to golf, fish and was a member of the Weak Signals Club running RC Aircraft.

Daniel is survived by his children Leslie (Jeffrey) Ballew, Daniel S. (Kerry) Prater, and Jeffrey (Victoria) Prater; grandchildren Jamie (Brian) Rau, Joey (Amy Barraclough) Donaldson, Jeremy (Ashley Smith) Ballew, Daniel K. Prater, and Benjamin Ballew; brother Thomas (Joan) Prater, sister Sue (Larry) Ramey, friend Chuck Peart, sister-in-law Sue (Ed) Ramasocky and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife Margaret.

Family and friends may visit the Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S. Wynn Rd in Oregon on Monday, July 24, 2023, from 2-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday in the funeral home at 11 a.m. Burial will be private. Memorial contributions can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
