Collette J. Daunhauer, 76, of Oregon, Ohio passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on Thursday, February 18, 2016 at Hospice in Perrysburg. She was born on April 8, 1939 in Toledo to Robert and Bernice Mattes. Collette graduated from Central Catholic High in 1957 and Davis Business College. Over the years, she worked as a secretary for Darling Valve, Avon, Florian Insurance, Owens Corning and Libbey Owens/Pilkington. Collette was very active in St. Agnes Rosary Altar Society where she served as past president. She is a parishioner of St. Ignatius Catholic Church and a member of the Altar Society. Collette volunteered at the Peristyle Art Museum, Franciscan Life Center, Stranahan and Valentine Theatre.
Collette is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, William; children: Judith (Thomas) Kraus, Mary (Jim) Bakalis, William (Gena) Daunhauer, Jr., Christine (Kirk) Allen and David (Jessica) Daunhauer; grandchildren, Greg (Shervin) Kraus, Sarah Kraus, Katie and Jessica Bakalis, Adam and Amanda Daunhauer, Gwen, Nathan and Zachary Allen and Izzi, Tessa and Deacon Daunhauer. She is also survived by her brothers, John (Linda) Mattes and Patrick Mattes and her brother-in-law, Robert Daunhauer. She was preceded in death by her parents and sisters, Joyce and Mary.
Family and friends may visit the Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S. Wynn Rd, Oregon, on Monday, February 22, 2016 from 3-8 p.m. where the rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Funeral services will begin at the funeral home on Tuesday at 10:15 a.m. with Mass at St. Ignatius Catholic Church at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider memorial contributions to St. Ignatius Building Fund, Hospice of Northwest Ohio or charity of donor’s choice.
