Clifford C. Poland
Clifford C. Poland, 87, of Curtice, Ohio passed away on Sunday, March 30, 2014 at the Hospice of Northwest Ohio-Toledo Center. He was born on August 29, 1926. Cliff served in the U.S. Army, during WWII. He worked as a car inspector for Conrail for over 30 years. Cliff also was a truck driver for 24 years and former owner of the Bono Tavern. He was a member of the Cooley Canal Yacht Club, Christ Dunberger American Legion Post #537 and V.F.W. Post #2510.
Cliff is survived by children: Keith (Sandra) Poland, Janis (Jim) Roby, Jill Vershum, Dave (Robin) Poland and Deanna Sue (Don) Tomanski; step children: David (Malinda) LaCourse, Becky (Roger) Saunders, Robert LaCourse and Thomas (Paige) LaCourse; grandchildren: Mark Huss, Jolene Poland, Christopher Roby, Holly Gillentine, Todd Poland, Nicholas Poland, Keri Suhy, Lisa Poland, Rachael Novak, Brent Poland Jr., Donald Tomanski III, Melissa Tomanski and Matthew Tomanski; many great-grandchildren and siblings, Ron (Sandy) Poland, Cheryl Johnson and Dori (Bernie) Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, wives, Ethelyn, Janet and Mildred; son, Brent Poland and step son, Earl LaCourse.
Family and friends may visit the Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S. Wynn Rd in Oregon on Thursday, April 3, 2014 from 2-8 p.m. where members of the Cooley Canal Yacht Club will have services at 7 p.m. followed by an American Legion service. Funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Friday at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to the Donor’s choice.
