Charlotte Rae (Taylor) Everhardt

August 24, 1936 — June 13, 2016

Charlotte Rae (Taylor) Everhardt was born on August 24, 1936 in a house on Lime City Rd. in Perrysburg Twp., Ohio. She was the youngest of eight children born to William and Charlotte (Steadman) Taylor.

Charlotte worked retail before securing a job with Toledo Public Schools. She retired from TPS and moved to Florida. However, the love for her children and grandchildren drew her back to the Buckeye state. Saturday afternoon football games were especially rowdy as she cheered her beloved Ohio State Buckeyes to victory! As much as she loved OSU football, that couldn’t compare to the deep affection she held for her great-grandchildren! Her eyes would light up as her great-grandchildren would enthusiastically call for “Shotzy’s” attention. The great-grandkids could do no wrong in Shotzy’s eyes.

Left to cherish her memories are her children, Joe (Rebecca), Christie (Dave) and Scott (Deb). Also surviving are her grandchildren, Nikki (Darrin), Dustin, Kelly (Eric), Cody (Laura), Tracy (Larry); nine great-grandchildren with two on the way; brother, Bob (Mona) Taylor and sister-in-law, Elva Taylor along with many dear nieces and nephews. Charlotte was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Bill Taylor, Gene Herrick, Daisy Garwacki, Jim Taylor, Phyllis Mullins and Art Taylor.

“Shotzy” felt most at home reading scripture, watching Christian television, or listening to Christian music. Her peace and solace rested in the love and grace of her Savior, Jesus Christ. On June 13, 2016, Charlotte entered heaven, to a joyful celebration!

A memorial gathering will be held on Friday, June 17, 2016 at Little Sisters of the Poor Sacred Heart Home (corner of Navarre and Wynn Rd) in Oregon from 1:00 – 2:30 p.m. where a Memorial Service will begin at 2:30 p.m. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, charitable donations be made to Little Sisters of the Poor or the American Diabetes Association.
